Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform is not a rebrand of Vertex AI but a substantive evolution that layers major new governance, identity, security, and scaling capabilities (like cryptographic agent identity) on top of what Vertex already provided.

Riyaz explains that Vertex AI, long the de facto developer platform for agents, has been significantly enhanced with governance, security, and identity capabilities and renamed Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform to reflect that expanded scope. ✦ AI generated

Talk a little bit about the evolution of Vertex AI into Gemini, what's now called Gemini enterprise agent platform, and some of the standout features and capabilities of the shift.

Vertex AI for the last few years has been our de facto developer platform for you to build uh agents and applications and enroll it out within your organization. Now, over the last couple quarters, we've enhanced that platform significantly. We brought new capabilities into governance, security, identity for you to be able to run agents, right? 5:40bring bring best of Google AI for every employee, every workflow. Mhm. And when we look at that promise, when we launched the app, it was always built on Vertex. Vertex was the platform that was powering Gemini enterprise back then as well. Yeah. Now, over the last couple quarters, we've enhanced that platform significantly. We were we brought new capabilities into governance, security, identity for you to be able to run agents, right?

6:06Give agents a cryptographic ID so they are identified within the organization. You can then put policies on them and monitor and control those policies through gateway. Register them in the registry so you can monitor and govern them in one place. There's a lot of richness around the governance aspects of it. And when we looked at that portfolio, we believe that the Vertex brand itself would not do full justice on what we're

6:30providing, right? There was also feedback from customers just like, hey, if I'm buying Gemini enterprise app, which is really helping people adopt AI in my organization, do I need to to to buy Vertex? And we would have to clarify it's actually Vertex is what powers Gemini enterprise. And so, as we were bringing net new capabilities, we had an opportunity again to coming back to our first theme

6:51of simplicity, Right. simplifying for the our customers to understand that this is all part of the same platform. And so, taking all the goodness of what was Vertex, Right. the ability to get plethora of models, being able to train those models to with the data, bringing your own data, and then training and building agents, all that still stays. And then we layer in net new capabilities for you

7:12to scale through memory banks, to govern, through agent identity, agent security, and to observe and optimize how agents are running to ensure that the output and the outcome that you want to achieve from the agent is what it is what you're getting or how you can tweak it. All that richness now comes together in Gemini enterprise agent platform. And that just means the story of, hey, bringing the best of Google AI for every

If you're a knowledge worker and if your day-to-day depends on using AI, you can use a Gemini enterprise app. And the the agents that are built by the developers can be surfaced in the Gemini enterprise app. As well as the app gives you the ability to build your own own agents.
